Please make sure you have a good pulmonologist. If you've been struggling with being short of breath for a long time, talked about it with your doc and were ignored, that's not good care. The finding should not have been accidental, nor should you have had to wait so long for a spirometry test. Just my opinion.......

The report you got is pretty typical when you've had a CT scan, and can mean a variety of things, most of which have been touched on. My suggestion to follow up on the CT scan would be to make an appointment with a good pulmonologist for a diagnostic evaluation. That would include a good look at the CT scan as well as other tests that the pulmonologist would run. At this point you want to know how do these changes affect your breathing, if at all, and what meds/treatments are appropriate at this point.

The key word is MILD. That means you can do things now to slow the progression down. My CT Scan reports say almost the same thing. They are describing the lung damage so far which is common with Emphysema. Typically from being a former smoker, but can come from other things.

This internal damage is what is causing obstructions in your breathing patterns. If it was Bronchitis too, the description would include mention of Over-inflated lungs and empty spaces called bullae.

They never put COPD on these reports.

We’ll best guess is you’ve not had much change in your lungs since last scan. Your damage is mouth to and nose passageways to lungs! As opposed to but it doesn’t say damage to the lungs say holes or trapped air bulaa etc.

Some breathing problems are not due to respiratory system damage only. Several heart conditions can mimick shortness of breath issues as the brain works overtime to resaturate the blood with oxygen. Medications for heart issues can also cause breathless-ness as well.

It is not coincidence that your lung issues were found on a heart scan - IT happens all the time:

It is Good that you have advocated for better care from your medical team going forward.
