Has Anyone Had Stem Cell Therapy
You can go to www.clinicaltrials.gov to see what current research on stem cells is registered. It something is listed, it doesn't mean that it's actually being done or that it is research that will actually tell us things we don't already know. The current listings show maybe 10 of 34 that are legitimate and either recruiting or on-going. A lot of the non-university listings are by companies that make their money selling stem cell treatments that aren't approved by anyone and no insurance will pay for.
No, and if you're thinking about it for your lungs, there are no stem cell therapies that have been demonstrated to have positive clinical results. Lots of stories, but nothing that's been shown to have any effect at all. Stem cell therapies are available for many different conditions, but lung conditions aren't among them. If someone tries to sell you a treatment, guaranteed it's not been approved by anyone and no insurance will pay for it. Save your money. That said, there are some studies being done at the cellular (really basic) level that may be helpful in moving us closer to knowing how to use stem cells for lung diseases. Unless a miracle occurs, it will probably be another 20 years before we have something that actually works. Not a great thing for most of us, but the next generation will benefit.
Did your insurance pay for it? Were you able to tell the difference?
