Robotussin Cough And Mucus Relief

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭
Duluth, GA

Was in ER this weekend for a flare up they think because my X-ray was clear but I was experiencing sob. The Doctor recommended that instead of using Mucinex or a mucus relief I try Robotussin cough and mucus relief. He also gave me a dose while I was there. I was released the next day after a high regimen of steroids and a medication for flare up. Has anyone been recommended Robotussin or take it on a daily basis???

Hi Carrie. After COPD, we learn that mucus is produced in many parts of the body, including intestinal, eyes and nasal. Taking guafennisen (Tussin) medicines may have an effect on those areas as well and change the balance of things along the way.
As to dealing with bronchial/nasal issues here's a rough formula for me:
Dry cough = use liquid meds
Wet cough (phlegm) = use pills (dry) meds
Your mileage may vary.

I blow balloons up. But the way I do it is I blow into the balloon & don't stop til I can no longer breathe out. Then I empty all the air from the balloon. I Then breathe normal for a short bit. Then I repeat with blowing up the balloon. I try to do it no less then 5 times. It loosens the flem for me & balloons are cheap.

Update:
Went to a new lung doctor recommended by the ER doctor…… He is nice and seems to have a personal concern for his patients. He feels that sometimes the tests tell a different story. That a physical examination can give a different result. In my case he determined that I needed a change in medicine. So I am now taking the new one called Breztri….. Any thoughts or advice?

Hi Carrie, me again. In regards to your question I use the liquid. I have also used Robitussin Mucus & Phlegm to loosen things up when I don"t have a cough. Drink lots of water. Take care, be well, and breathe easy.
