When I had mine done was afraid I would cough but a lovely nurse held my hand and said if you feel you want to cough squeeze my hand and surgeon will stop and guess what because I had that reassurance all was okay, having the cataracts done was the best thing ever just have to wear glasses for reading now, good luckxx

I had it and I am stage 3 - oxygen and night and during the day when walking around. I had Cataract surgery and did fine with both eyes. I worked out good for me and no more glasses. They give you oxygen in surgery and it is twilight. You are not completely under. at least I was not.

I had Cataract surgery. I had no anesthesia. One day surgery. I had to be a wake. the Doctor gave me something in my IV to relax me.which was fine. They did drape me My face and only the eye being operated on showed. there was no pain. I had a patch over my eye over night. Saw the Doctor next day to make sure everything was ok. Had other eye done in two weeks. I do not where glasses any more' only for reading. I am hoping this helped. Let me know how you make out.

I had cataract surgery and was dreading it, thinking they were going to put needles in my eye. Well, the first eye I had done was so easy, I almost looked forward to having the other eye done...almost.
First they gave me something to make me drowsy. This was before they even took me down to the OR. Then, I was still in lala land when I went down. I was awake, more or less, thru the whole thing. They draped my face, leaving only the one eye exposed. All of a sudden everything was black, but I could still hear them talking. Next thing I knew, I could see again. I felt no pain, nothing. The doctor asked me a couple of questions, then said I was all done. They took me back upstairs to "recovery", and after a short time, I went home. It was that easy. So try not to worry. They know what they are doing, and you'll do fine.

Hi Tracie
I told them I was very nervous and claustrophobic and they said they tent ithe drape away from your face but it has to stay on so no bacteria gets near your eyes
