Bronchiectasis is fairly common among COPD patients. It can also be a stand-alone disease. Some people have active bronchiectasis and other in others it's not active. If you really want good information, I would refer you to www.copdfoundation.org. Click on the learn more tab or put bronchiectasis in the search engine.

I have Bronchiectasis. When this diagnosis first came out in a CT scan that i took after a month of artyhmic heartbeats, I did not further mind the diagnosis. Was so happy my heart was ok. The paper said "Honeycombing" in parts of the lung? So what. My heart was fine. Only 2 years later i consulted a pulmo, after feeling depleted of energy (thats when my o2 Sat reached lows of 79%). Another CT scan later, and 5 more reluctant visits to the pulmo, I was finally able to embrace the diagnosis. COPD Stage 2. 30% lung damage. Most likely permanent. So now, since 1/2 a year I am working on it, with it. I am on o2 therapy, average 8 hours daily. Many ailments that I had earlier (restless legs, GERD, circulation problems) subsided (or became tolerable) since i accepted the o2 therapy. I am not a smoker, live rather healthy. Am vegetarian, i have no caffeine, no white sugar, no white flower, no white rice. I eat little - mostly organically grown food, supplemented with herbs from the garden. I am still loosing weight but it has slowed down a little. I am 73. My dear 81 year old husband helps me through the day, since my energy levels have slowed me down to a turtle speed. I am so blessed to have help coming in 5 x a week. Blessed to be able to be surrounded by a wild garden, a cliff and a bamboo grove. Oh yes, through it all I peddle my stationary bike every day for 20 min. Exercise is food for the body too!
