Cardiff University hospital here in Wales UK are teaching Doctors from around the world how to use this system -- that is none intrusive ,is applied via the mouth and only requires one night in hospital --In some cases up to 15 valves are inserted

Vents, Valves and coils have been available and used in the UK as well as most of northern Europe for the last 10 - 12 years. The FDA approved the Zephyr valve by Pulmonx for use here in the US early this year. There is another one that is in the midst of the process of being approved by the FDA. When these are widely available here, we'll be able to take advantage of all the things learned in Europe and the UK over these years. Now the Zephyr is being used by some of the sites that did the clinical trials and new pulmonologists are learning how to implant them properly.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member im on oxygen and can i just say wow fantastic if your o2 levels are high 90s,,mines is low 90s but drop lower on exertion.maybe 6th Nov ((next consultant appt)) she will say i can have them too..x

Tracey Hi -- I cannot comment on your carbon dioxide but when they put that thing on my finger it normally reads in the high 90s despite the fact that I smoke a pipe --I have been told I cannot have oxygen until it goes down to 88 --I just hope you are on the correct inhalers Etc; xx

@A MyCOPDTeam Member A friend of mine had the valves inserted here in Glasgow, they are called Bronchial Valves,and your right they are inserted by keyhole surgery..x
