Inogen Equipement?

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭
Fairfax, CA

I've just been diagnosed as needing oxygen for exercise from my walk tests at UCSF Pulmonary. Even though my Medicare primary and Anthum secondary insurance. I couldn't get the state of the art equipment like Inogen creates. I feel that it's worthy expense to get the best equipment since I can afford it. I'm thinking to get their bundled package with a home unit that I can use on ac and my c-Pap and also the G3 for portable use. Does anyone have feedback about this equiment or plan. To be… read more

The higher oxygen level you need, will decrease the portable batteries. While one person may get 10 hours from a double battery, at this point I get about half of that time, and that is really ok, totally understandable.

I don't understand what others are saying about the settings not being liters, my understanding is that they are the same.

Here is what I can tell you about my experience with this company (and it has been fantastic). My At Home unit arrived and did not work. No way of getting that poor thing to turn on. This company did overnight me a new unit, the very next day. They even had the UPS guy take the new Unit out of the box, and took the defective Unit, right then. That was way too cool for a company to do for us! In business, I had dealt with UPS, Fedex, and DHL for years and never has any taken back anything defective, at the time. I had to box it and have a label sent to me, then call for pick-up. This service was amazing!

One should always have back up oxygen and having both the portable and home units, you have that. I also have cans of oxygen that I purchase from Amazon and keep handy as a just-in-case.

I just purchased both the Inogen G3 and the At Home and I love them!

While the G3 is heavier than my AirSep Focus, my AirSep is set at 2lt only and unfortunately I need 3lt now and will need more as time progresses, my time is progressing faster than expected.

Thus, the reason for my G3 purchase. Set on 3lt, I can now walk about without gasping for breath, what a difference 1lt makes! For me, with severe back issues the extra weight of the unit, while really not all that heavy (but is for me), I will deal with. Later.., if I need to cart the unit behind me, I already have a rolling bag I can use for that.

I think the Inogen G3 is a good portable concentrator as long as your liter flow is not too high. 2 liters on a concentrator could end up being a setting of 2, 3, or 4 on the G3 everyone is different so it is just good to know that until you go for a walk with one and check your oxygen level you cannot be sure it is the unit for you. Many people do not realize that the liter flow and the setting differ. Also the Inogen home concentrator is good too but any machine can malfunction and if it does it is nice to have a home care company that will come to service it so I would make sure that would happen if you do purchase one. Also, even though it is not covered by insurance some home care companies are willing to give you a portable like the G3 with the new setup of oxygen. Could save you some money, however, you would not own the machines but on the plus side if they break a home care company will come fix it. Hope it helps :)

I am the person that bought mine from the factory a year ago when no one had one to sell because they were "back ordered from the factory". I got a great deal from Shaun, and he added in the lifetime warranty and an extra battery. When I thought mine was making a little more sound than normal I called and they had a new unit to me the next day, I think it was in the late morning. They wait while you open the box and take out the new one, put the return in the box and they take it with them and you are done. I paid for it myself and the only problem was Kaiser telling me the prescription had been sent when it hadn't. I finally got them to email me the prescription and I had to print it and email it to Inogen myself and Shaun let me know a short time later he had gotten it. I would never buy a used unit unless it came from the Inogen factory, because at your age and ability, it should last you a long time and the lifetime warranty is well worth the money. Remember you need a prescription and if you are paying for it yourself it isn't likely your doc won't write the prescription for any unit you want. This is the only experience I have had buying a POC but it has been good from start to finish.
