If You Use A Nebulizer, How Often Do You Use It And Do You Use It Everyday???
Hey, Eek!!! Thank you for the input!!! I'm going to ask my doc about the different meds that y'all are using in your nebulizers. Couldn't hurt. I'm sorry you were in the hospital. I haven't had to go to the hospital yet. I hope I don't ever but it's there if I need it. I'm sorry your ins. wouldn't pay for your med. That's a bad deal. That's what happened with my Spiriva and Symbicort. The ins. decided they wouldn't cover it and they had to change my inhalers. It took awhile but I think my inhalers are working well. I don't like the powder inhalers but these are what I have. Sigh. Since I went to the doc and got the steroids my breathing is so much better. I haven't had to use the nebulizer like I was using it before. I'm still coughing up glue though. It gets hung up in my lungs and is hard to get out. I'm taking Mucinex to thin it out and drinking lots of water which I do anyway. It still ricochets around in my lungs. I'm hoping that I'll get over this enough to start on my exercises and I'm waiting to hear back from the pulmonary rehab and see if my if my ins. will cover it. Thank you again for the input. How are you doing??? Breathing well I hope. I'm glad that you can get a garden going in spite of it all. That's great!!! Breathe easy!!! Love you!!!
My doc says every 4-6 hours as needed. In other words, if I am not getting relief from my rescue inhaler, use the nebulizer.
Has your doc prescribed a nebulized med for you? If so, what did the prescription say? That's how often you need to use the nebulizer. That said, sometimes a doc will prescribe a nebulizer for albuterol as a "rescue med". That usually comes with an "up to X times a day", just like the inhaler does, so you have some leeway in how much you use it and in some cases, whether you use it at all. A nebulizer is a medical device which usually requires a prescription and the medication used in it definitely requires a prescription.
I use mine every morning before my other meds. If I am going out at night, I'll use it before I go. I rarely use it more than once a day. Better breathing for all.
Howdy Debbieo!!! At this point that's what I'm doing. That's what the doc told me when I went to him a couple of weeks ago. I was afraid that I was supposed to be using it every day and on a regular schedule. He told me no to use as needed. When I was having my flare I was using it really often. A nurse had told me that I could use it every 4 hrs. if needed and the doc said the same thing. So that's what I'll do. I don't like using the rescue inhaler very much. It does help but I want it to keep working so I try not to use it as much. Thank you for your input!!! Everything helps me to learn about the nebulizer. That's what I needed to do. It wasn't explained to me from the beginning. So many things weren't. I'll be asking more questions too. Thank you again Debbieo!!! How are you and are you breathing well??? I so hope you are. I'm breathing ok but I'm sitting in front of the pc talking to you. We shall see as the day progresses. The air quality is good today and we'll see how that works. Breathe well!!! Love you!!!
