COPD And Cold/Dry Weather
Weather's been good/warm so far for this time of year in Chicago & burbs. This will by my 2nd winter since moving from Las Vegas; 1st by myself in my own apt. Lately I've noticed how dry the air is! Cold weather does me bad as well. That is why I live down here. I cant handle the cold anymore. My suggestion, move down here in the south where it doesn't get as cold. LOL. Wrap a scarf around your mouth and nose. Serves three purposes. It keeps your face warmer which keeps your body warmer, it makes it a little easier to breath in the cold winter air, and it is fashionable.
@A MyCOPDTeam Member...I know what u mean>>when u thrive for good air lung capacity in the 'cold' months>>it hurts like hell to try to get in a good deep breath>>my muscles rnd my lungs feel like a mop head that is being twisted.I use a cold air mask and a scarf.humidifier is good by ur bed side if the air is too dry and warm.it also helps w/ sinus problems.wishing u well.
For some people the cold air does make it harder to breathe. Good suggestions include wrapping your face, nose and mouth in a scarf and breathing through that. You could also wear a mask; anything that might warm the air up a bit for you will help.
Suspending dampened towel over a heating vent helps to put moisture into the air.
Cotton mouth? Hmmm, maybe should lay off the Columbian Redbud. LMAO
