Wondering If Anyone Has Tried Stem Cell Therapy? If So What Were Your Results?

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have begun to research stem cell therapy and have talked to my pulmonary doctor about it. His response was that he didn't have any patients who had tried this but recommended I seek out others who have had it and ask how much improvement they achieved. It's a very expensive process but if it really works it could change the course of my future. I haven't checked yet but my guess is that insurance will not pay for the treatment.

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide on this… read more

I've had two stem cell treatments. The firs one did not result in any improvement at all. The second one improved my breathing ability very substantively. However, it lasted for only a couple of weeks until I was back to where I was. At present. the methods they use are hit and miss. Until they can find a way to get the proper cells to the lungs, the treatments will remain unreliable.

I have had two treatments. The first did not result in any improvement. The second improved my breathing significantly for about two weeks, then faded away again. At this point, stem cell treatments for COPD are, at best, hit and miss. They extract some of your stem cells from your fat tissue or from your bone marrow, or your blood, and then reintroduce them intravenously and hope that enough of the right kind of cells find their way, via the bloodstream, to your lung tissues. Eventually they will find the right methodology to separate the appropriate cells and reintroduce them efficiently. I recently learned that one new method reintroduces the cells via a nebulizer. That makes more sense to me because the cells go directly to your lungs. Still, not all stem cells are equal and until they are able to identify and extract lung-specific cells no consistent results will be achieved.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member last I heard it ran around 7 plus thousand. I believe there are 2 ways to do it with price differance. All of the dr.s that I have heard from say its to early yet. Not enough study done on it. Of course Dr's that do it say it works. People that have it done most are still waiting for improvement. Others say they got a little correction but no more. Good luck and Blessings to ya, Ray

@A MyCOPDTeam Member I have had the FULL treatment. It did nothing. Do not believe the testimonies. The industry is not ready yet. There will be a time that this will help. It cost about $15,000 considering travel, food and lodging for 3 days..
