Been off vent twenty two days at nursing facility daughter found me in bed first. I had a very shallow breath was vented in my bed. What are all the physical pain you feel. Ten years I have had this and all of a sudden I guess I have been in denial. Thanks for listening.

Generally there is not much physical pail with COPD. Sometimes the chest muscles get sore from coughing and there can be other muscular pain issues, but the lungs have no pain receptors. What pain are you having? Talk with your doc.....that's the person who can do something about it!

Opiods are often prescribed in NZ to older folk with severe COPD for chest, muscular and bone pain. I'm 75 and use fentanyl patches, and oxycodone for what is called breakthrough pain. Makes breathing easier. I'd never heard of opiods for COPD until I went on palliative care.
