Does Anyone Know Someone On Here From The States That Has Had Valves Put In There Lungs? Called Liberate
@ PeterLima what is the difference between valve you are talking about and the endobronchial valve like Zephyr for the liberate study
Nope....The original LVRS where the bottom of the Lungs were removed.....I tried that after a TX was unsuitable.....The LVRS also was unsuitable as both lobes were damaged..That is called Homogeneus Lungs. LIBERATE is NOT a VALVE..It is a Clinical Study..https://pulmonx.com/us/liberate-endobronchial-v...
Here are Links to both valve info.....

There is a good friend here waiting for confirmation if he will be accepted....He is in the UK.
Another friend died last year after a successful LVRS but died in 1 day still in hospital from complications....also UK
So very important to get as much info as possible.....
Yes, I had valves put in January 2016,they could only do 3 in my left lung, I really don't see a lot of difference. I get so SOB doing the most simple things. I had mine done at Duke in Durham North Carolina.
i know all about the trial, i am set up for in may sometime. I want to talk to a person in the usa who has had it. I have talked with people across the water, most england, but have found no one that has had no problems. most have had a lung collapse and had a valve or 2 removed. they do 5 we do 4 i was set up for it last year but went into hospital so was removed
Go to www.clinicaltrials.gov and search for Liberate trials. You'll find where they are recruiting and can get to the Pulmnix site where you might be able to get more information. The Liberate trials are just the latest in non-invasive use of valves, vents, coils, glue and steam to achieve some of the same results as LVRS without actually taking out parts of the lungs. To date, they have been successful in some folks and much less so in others. Some of these procedures are being done in Europe and Australia. Again, results vary; some folks do quite well, others don't.
Suggest you read this: https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health-pro/resources/...
All the valve, vent, coils, etc. studies now use the parameters for LVRS. They've found that the closer people come to being good candidates for LVRS, the better candidates they are for the non-invasive stuff.
