I Am On Oxygen 24/7 Why Does My Oxygen Levels Drop When I Am Walking?
Because you are using a lot more oxgen when you are moving, know matter how much oxgen your receiving, any walking will make it drop.
any excertion causes mine to drop......go slow
@A MyCOPDTeam Member I am already slow like a turtle compared to what I use to be. My oxygen always does that. I can go for therapy, exercise and don't have a problem but as soon as I start walking it drops. It is around 80-82 when I walk slow. Very aggravating! Thanks for the advice though.
Having COPD you use a lot of energy just breathing now add walking and you breath harder and your levels will drop. When I pull my cart some day it goes real low. When I walk or do thing around the house I have had to up my oxygen. My doctor does a 6 minute walk with oxygen to see where I am.
It's because walking uses energy which needs oxygen. On rest, sitting or lying, less energy required less oxygen required so more oxygen stays in blood. This is how it was explained to me. Hope it helps.
