The coils have been in clinical trials now for several years. They are not available for anyone other than those who qualify to be in the clinical trial.
Hi Betty - The " Valve " procedure is not invasive ~ it is done by bronchoscopy , a fine tube is used to insert the one way valves to damaged lung area , no cutting , no stitches , and minimal hospital stay !
Hi Peter , thanks so much for the info ~ I live in Australia & am hoping to have BLVR in October , I have been checked out & am suitable for this procedure , the Coil Procedure has not been approved here as yet but my specialist reckons it is only a matter of time . The feedback on BLVR with the valves seems pretty good & I am very optimistic of a good outcome !
