Breathing And Heat

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have greater difficulty breathing in the summer heat. I find myself getting out of breath even when the temperature is in the upper 70's. Does anyone else experience this problem?

Usually the dew point is what causes us problems. When it's above 60, we're usually pretty uncomfortable. A high dew point plus high heat and humidity makes for hard breathing.

We are in the same boat it sounds like. And "dew point" is the operative word here, as you say, Jean. But whatever the word used, it feels soggy, boggy, and makes me loggy. And the more important effect, to me, is the hit on stamina it generates. So, it is a double whammy. So not only does a person have to work through breathing issues, one has to deal with the emotional toll.

i suffer badly in the heat, i have a hand held fan and direct it at my nose and this helps as you have a direct tube through your nose to your lungs, it might help, i love going in the blast chillers at work as it seems to open my lungs up a bit.
