I will have to join the majority, it happens to me as well. I have several things coming into play. My inhalers do add to it, being on O2 24/7 adds to it, and I have no thyroid (thyroid cancer in 1994 with total thyroidectomy and parathyroid damage). When a person has experienced a total thyroidectomy, they can have a raspy voice even if there was no vocal chord damage. It's just part of it. Also, if your thyroid levels are off it can cause a raspy voice. Additionally, the phlegm buildup in the throat can cause it or sinus drainage for those of you with allergy problems. WOW, aren't we lucky!

Dry throat effects the vocal cords. Speech pathologist says keep em moist with plenty of water. Can rest vocal cords by using Nasal sounds--like you're talking through your nose. I knew how to do this because my little had this speech impediment

@A MyCOPDTeam Member Do you have the water on your concentrator for humidity in your 02. I had to ask my doctor for it. It made a big difference. When I sneaked just a tiny bit of salt in it, I no longer woke with a sore throat.

yes doctor said it's the inhalers and it can also be thrush I had a bout of it a couple of weeks ago
