E Cigarettes

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have Stage 4 COPD. I stopped smoking cigarettes over a year ago, but continue to use E cigs. Medical studies appear to conflict on their use. From personal experience can anyone advise on this matter?

Wanda. Thanks for your comments - much appreciated. Like you I will try to give up E cigs - it must be easier than stopping Cigarettes. Hope you succeed.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member I quit smoking a year and a half ago by using ecigs I think its the only way I would've quit the real cigs. I don't seem to have any bad effects from them, as a matter of fact I was usually sick 3-4 times a year and I haven't been sick once since I quit smoking . . . just saying. I'm sure nothing is better, but ecigs is better then the real ones I think.

The science isn't in yet; however, every pulmonologist I know is appalled that anyone would use them, especially people with COPD. With already damaged lungs, I see no reason to put any more potential damage doers into mine. I have about 30% lung function now, and sure don't want to take a chance on losing more!

@A MyCOPDTeam Member cigarettes I stopped smoking 2 pks a day three years ago by using the E cigs also, I am now trying to stop those as well,Although they may be a better alternative,It can't be good to be inhaling anything other than clean air in our situation..
As hard as it is,the healthier we treat our lungs and body seems to be our only fighting chance,I'm finding this all out and realizing it just now after being diagnosed almost five years ago...it's never to late. God Bless
