Does Pulmonary Rehab Help?
Yes, yes, yes ! It's like night and day. The best thing you can do to help you battle some of the evilS of COPD is exercising. Keeply your lungs working and helping them maintain elasticity is such a great thing to help maintain a
easier breathing path. It helps breathing to be more calm than frantic. I have noticed that it just takes a couple days of Iittle activity and my lungs start feeling tight. It helps I have upstairs / downstairs ( let me tell ya that some days the option of downstairs sleeping is heralded) but, even the stairs aren't enough by themselves, I saved and picked up a
used recumbent bike, Its great . I also go outside attached to a couple of my long oxygen cords. I have a small potting area that I piddle in, It gets me outside. At first doc said I shouldn't because oxygen leveI could be compromised but I take my oximeter and keep a watch on my levels and never have a prob. Plus I'm hooked to concentrator so no need to worry about O2 bottles. It's all exercise. just move at a confortable pace no matter what you decide to do. Try to make it a tittle egoyable with music or podcast. you'll really like the way it leaves you feeling.
Does the heat not affect your breathing even tho you have O2 on
I have 02 and yes the heat really affects me
@A MyCOPDTeam Member OMG yes! I have been going to rehab for many weeks after a bad hospital stay with pneumonia. I have never exercised in my life but really enjoy the machines at rehab. Especially getting on a treadmill,as I miss walking. Rehab has improved my overall health and improved my breathing better than before the hospital! I can even take a long shower, which was quite a chore 6 months ago! Go for it!
No, Depends on where you live and what kind of program they have. The one I went to only had us do 30 minutes on our choice of 2 machines a little diet info, a waste of time
