Actually, we could all do it. Both the ALA and the COPD Foundation host "Hill Days" where patients can talk with their congressional delegation either in person or virtually, tell their story and advocate for improvements in the health care system specific to COPD. I've been doing this for years, along with a number of others. You say "this site and the team" should be doing the work. I can tell you from personal experience that legislators and their staff listen to people representing themselves and pay very little attention to the people who work at places like this site and other advocacy organizations: they pay attention to their constituents, the people who vote for them. So put your money where your mouth is and join us. We can use all the help we can get!
A cure sounds wonderful but would it really be possible to find a "cure" for lungs damaged by 20, 30 or 50 years of deterioration and hardening?
i do write my rep. and leaders but we alll need to do this . the hill day sounds like a good idea . to have changes we have to do it in numbers . numbers is power to get changes
Good morning @A MyCOPDTeam Member. I don't want to sound like a smart alec or anything, but since you brought the subject up, I nominate YOU for the job of tackling the government. If you do it now while we still have the present people in office, you would probably have a better chance of getting through to the funding portion of things. Again, I am NOT saying anything for or against the present government; simply stating a fact. It's a good idea, but I'm not sure how many of us would have the energy to take on such a task, unfortunately.
