I'm Trying To Figure Out Humidifiers.

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm wondering if any of you use humidifiers or de-humidifers. I know one is for summer and one for winter. I think right now for winter I need a humidifier. Something to buffer against the indoor dry heat. Do I have that right?

Yes that is correct. It is so dry inside my house that I wake up and my mouth is so dry.

A humidifier adds moisture to room and a dehumidfier takes moisture away from room. 🤨

I have a humidifier in the winter months in the northeast due to the oil heat drying out the inside air.

Yes, the dry heat is not good for anybody
I clean my humidifier with vinegar every couple days I have an ultrasonic and it has to take distilled water which is a pain because I live out in the country and my friends have to haul gallons of distilled water but worth it
I set it on 40%
look up humidity for COPD on the Internet between 30 and 40 it makes a huge difference. If you’re dry ed out you can’t cough up the mucus either it makes it all sticky dries out your nose, plus on oxygen in that dries it out. In the summer the air conditioner should take out the humidity mine doesn’t so I run a dehumidifier. I try to keep my humidity as close to 40 as possible supposedly 70°F and 40% humidity are the best for breathing go from there
Personally, I like to sleep cooler so I keep my bedroom at 66f 67f and try to keep the humidity
I got to which one is in Accu rite Off Amazon I have one in the living room and one in the bedroom and that tells me my temperature and humidity at all times. I hope you have a fantastic week I got to walk today. It is supposed to storm tomorrow (never know in Kansas)🙄 but it was so nice I couldn’t resist. Remember on the opposite spectrum too much humidity is moisture in the air which is less oxygen if you get a humidifier, make sure you keep it clean so you’re not breathing mold if you keep your air humidified less germs and viruses can survive also in the dry air. Dry air they thrive. Take it easy.KAT😍🇺🇸
P S. And all these years the only thing my pulmonologist ever told me was to watch out for passing storms.🫤 everything else is pretty much figured out by yourself and how you feel that day. I hope you feel good.😍🇺🇸
