Portable Concentrator

A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭
Ludington, MI

Is there anyone out there on 7 liters of oxygen. I have to go that high on activity, and all the tanks out there will only last a very short time, very short. Was wondering if any of the portable concentrator a will go that high

I was told that COPD shouldn't go over 4L because that's all our lungs can handle. Higher just builds up Carbon Dix which can kill you by putting you to sleep. I had to go to ER for to much carbon Dix in body , I was almost comatose .

POC's only go to 3lpm continuous. The pulse units probably wouldn't support you at their highest settings, but you could certainly try. The one with the greatest output at this point is the Inogen One G2, I think. You should check the Pulmonary Paper for Ryan Diesem's most recent comparison of the available POCs to be sure. You would want to use the machine under a variety of circumstances to see if it will keep you oxygenated and under which circumstances.

Inogen has options for your insurance to pay or private sale, but only pulse and up to 6.
See my response regarding home concentrator that goes to 10 and the ones I researched from China about $700, but skeptical if they actually do go that high and if companies are reliable.

My concentrator at home goes to 10. Ask your doctor to order you from your supplier a High Flow concentrator that goes to 10. Just make sure they supply you with High Glow cannulas with thst). I have been researching portable concentrators that go to 7. I found 1 and (apologies for not remembering your name ) found another company, but both are in China and am not sure about reliability of product for the cost and refund policy is sketchy. (Moocno.com is one of them. They say their machine weighs 10 lbs. inogen only goes to 6 and is pulse and weighs about 7 lbs with battery)”

The POC at 3lpm continuous would run your battery down in about three to three and a half hours.....
