Pseudomonas What Is It
Pseudomonas what is it
I am diagnosed with pseudomas every time I am in the hospital. It's a strain of pneumonia and it is a stubborn buggy, usually takes a couple different antibiotics at once to start kicking it. There are a lot of meds that don't do anything fot it. It stays in your system a long time, even after the hospital stay. Trust me, it does. Takes a long time to get back on track. Hugs
My husband contracted Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in his lung whilst being treated for a severs chest infection/sepsis 18 months ago. Since then they have tried 4 courses of different strong antibiotics, 2 courses of Intravenous antibiotics, the last attempt used IV Colistin and whilst having this he had to stay in hospital 10 days because of the dangers of the severe side effects it could have. It does not help that he is allergic to penicillin as this severely restricts what treatments the doctors can give him. He still has it of course but it is dormant again. The last course was because the PA became active when he had a chest infection and it colonised his lungs causing considerable damage and resulting in him being on oxygen 24/7. The doctors aim now is to keep him infection free and he is on long term antibiotics. Cystic Fibrosis sufferers are susceptible to this infection. If you want to read more, check Wikipedia.
